Use your garage for your car. Better make room for your car. Parking in your garage could help hour car stay warm in winter months and cool in summer months. And as a car owner, you won’t have to depend on the fuel-consuming air conditioning or defroster when you drive your car.

Pump up your tires. Underinflated tires could wear down more easily when used in driving. It will reduce your tire life as much as 15 percent. Driving on underinflated tires may also lower the car’s gas mileage by 15 percent.

Check your tire pressure once a month. Having a digital gauge with you is very important to check the recommended air pressure needed for your car tires and better keep it in your glove box. Check the tire pressure when the tires are cold, and the good time to check the tire’s pressure is early in the morning after your car’s been resting overnight.

Keep your engine in tune. Give your car regular check-ups. Fixing your out-of-tuned car can boost your gas mileage by about 4 percent. Also check for worn spark plugs, for a misfiring spark plug could reduce your ca’s fuel efficiency by as much as 30 percent.

Replace air filters. It’s important to keep an eye on your engine’s air filter. If the engine air filter is clogged with dirt, dust and bugs, it will cause your engine to work harder and become less fuel-efficient. Changing your clogged engine air filter will improve the car’s gas mileage by as much as 10 percent and could save you money for gas. I recommend changing your car’s air and filter every three months or 3,000 miles or as specified in your owner’s manual.

Use the right oil. Use the right oil recommended for your car. your car’s mileage will improve by as much as 1-2 percent if you use the manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. Use the motor oil that uses the words “energy conserving” on the API performance label for this oil contains friction-reducing additives.
